Stuart H. Sobel

Stuart H. Sobel is a dedicated trial attorney with a passion for relentlessly pursuing the kernel of truth that lies at the heart of even the most complicated construction dispute. He has been trying and arbitrating “righteous causes” throughout the United States since 1978. He has been a shareholder in the firm since 1995.

Mr. Sobel earned his Bachelor of Arts in economics from Brown University in 1975 and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Miami in 1978. Mr. Sobel is among the first Florida Bar Board Certified Construction Lawyers and is also certified as a civil trial attorney by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.

He is one of five Florida attorneys designated as a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers, and presently serves on its Board of Governors. He maintains an individual “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He is admitted to the Florida and Georgia Bars, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, the United States Court of Federal Claims and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Sobel is a member of the American Bar Association where he sits on the Steering Committee of Division 9 (Trade Contractors) for the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry.

Mr. Sobel is a member of the American Arbitration Association’s Panel of Construction Arbitrators and has been named to the Construction Arbitrator Master Panel. He is also a Supreme Court of Florida Certified Circuit Civil Mediator. Mr. Sobel is a Member of the Miami-Dade County Bar Association, sitting on its Construction Law Committee. He is listed in the South Florida legal guide as one of the top construction litigation lawyers, is recognized as a “Best Lawyer in America” in the area of construction litigation and as a “Super Lawyer.”

Embracing technology to facilitate presentation of his client’s causes, his trial team has developed an expertise in electronic presentation at trial and arbitration, enhancing the understanding of the factfinder and shortening the time cases take to try. He lectures and writes on those presentation techniques, as well as other construction related topics.

A prolific author, articles he has written include “The Electronic Courtroom and the Paperless Trial”, “Arbitration in the Construction Industry”, “Conditional Payment Bonds-Panacea or Pandora” and “Construction Work for the Government after Miorelli-Has Anything Really Changed?”
