James "Fred" Harrington

An experienced and respected commercial and construction lawyer, James Harrington is dedicated to exceeding the expectations of business professionals, consistently delivering quality results in an efficient, timely and cost-effective manner. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama in 1979 and his Juris Doctor from Samford University, Cumberland School of Law in 1983.

Mr. Harrington is admitted to the Mississippi, Alabama and Florida bars as well as the U.S. District court, Southern District of Florida and Middle District of Florida. He has been an invaluable asset to the firm since joining as an associate in 1992, when he supported the Siegfried team and South Florida in the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Andrew.

Since relocating to Miami, he has contributed to the legal community on the staff of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, where he authored and co-authored articles on judicial notice, tort reform legislation, and the use of racially motivated challenges in civil and criminal trials.

While at Siegfried he has published articles including “Overview of the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act”, “Bonds: The Protective Layer in the Construction Process”, “The Role of the Surety and the Performance Bond” and “Risk of Loss: Construction Insurance and Indemnity.”
